Core task
A full waiting room
Many patients in a short time, from a cold to chest pain. You decide quickly who needs what.
Core task
Knowing patients for years
You often care for families across generations and know their story.
Core task
A bit of everything
Skin, mind, heart, children, vaccinations: you cover a wide range and refer when needed.
Core task
Living with unclear symptoms
Fatigue, dizziness, abdominal pain without a clear finding. You decide when to wait and when to investigate.
Home visits and nursing homes
You visit patients who can no longer come to the practice, often near the end of life.
Prevention and chronic care
Check-ups, vaccinations, diabetes and blood-pressure reviews at regular intervals.
Psychosocial problems
Unemployment, loneliness, family conflict: many consultations are not purely physical.
Running your own practice
If you set up in practice later, staff, billing and organisation become part of the job.
Few big machines
Your tools are conversation, examination, labs and ultrasound, hardly any CT or catheters.
This test is a structured self-assessment, not a validated psychometric instrument. The specialty profiles are informed estimates. Use the result as a starting point for conversations and check it with shadowing days and talks with specialists. Training information applies to Germany; the binding rules are those of the relevant state medical chamber. Specialty preferences often change during medical school, so retake the test after new rotations.
