Previous VTE (not superficial vein thrombosis)
Reduced mobility (bed rest ≥ 3 days)
Known thrombophilic condition

Acute MI or ischaemic stroke
Acute infection or rheumatological disorder
Obesity (BMI ≥ 30)

Barbar S, Noventa F, Rossetto V, et al. A risk assessment model for the identification of hospitalized medical patients at risk for venous thromboembolism: the Padua Prediction Score. In the prospective cohort, untreated high-risk patients (score ≥ 4) had ~11% VTE vs ~0.3% in low-risk patients.
